IT STARTED WITH A SIMPLE IDEA

A user guide for our planet ... That was the idea of the designer Angie Rattay - and with this, her diploma project was born. A grant made the first edition of 10,000 copies possible. These were quickly distributed. So Angie looked for a way to further finance the educational project and founded the organisation NEONGREEN NETWORK.

MANY LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE JOINED IN

Numerous people who wanted to make a difference came forward. Gradually, it became clear how much power civil society holds. With the help of her family, she distributed more Planet Earth- Directions for Use and thought about how these people could be networked.

THE FOUNDING OF THE EARTHTALKS

The EARTHtalks created a place for all of these like-minded people to meet. Friends helped organize the first event in September 2008 with 130 guests. In the following years, with the help of numerous volunteers, the EARTHtalks grew into a major event.

EARTHTALKS x
FEDERAL PRESIDENT

With their move to the Hall E of the Museumsquartier in 2016, the patronage of the EARTHtalks changed. Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen took over this task, thus paying us the greatest honor. Since then, up to 900 people attend the event each year and thousands follow the talks via livestream.

AN EDITION FOR CHILDREN

In 2021, the Planet Earth - Directions for Use for children was created. It comprises a box with 4 instruction leaflets for kids in the second grade and a poster for kids in the first grade. Both editions are explained by illustrated characters with superpowers.

WE'RE LEAVING A MARK

Over the past few years, we've distributed over 150,000 Planet Earth - Directions for Use, networked with countless people, and thousands followed EARTHtalks lectures and discussions via livestream. Our network is growing all the time. We are many!
